Besnik was born and raised in Toronto. He later moved to Waterloo where he earned a degree in Honours Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. After graduation, Besnik obtained his CA designation, and completed the CICA in-depth tax courses, while specializing in taxation at a national firm in Toronto. 

Besnik moved back to Waterloo with his wife and their two children to join Ward & Uptigrove in 2002. Besnik is primarily involved in estate and succession planning, corporate reorganizations, and corporate and personal tax planning. He was appointed partner in 2010.
