John has an Honours Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2001. After graduating, he worked for a National accounting firm for seven years as an Assurance & Advisory Manager. He is a CPA, CA, and also a Licensed Public Accountant. 

John joined Ward & Uptigrove in 2008, was appointed Principal on January 1, 2011 and Partner on January 1, 2015. He has significant experience in the veterinarian, real estate and construction and agriculture sectors, assisting with tax, accounting, and general business matters. John’s entrepreneurial rural background serves him well with both new and his established base of clients. 

John serves as the Chair of our Accounting policy group. 

Outside the office, John can be found spending time with his wife and daughters, working on some project on his farm, skiing, or just enjoying all aspects of the outdoors.
