Lead Welder

Elmira, ON

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Welder with high standards of workmanship to join and lead a team in our Elmira, Ontario facility. This hands-on role focuses on producing high quality products while providing mentorship and leadership to other welders. This is a full-time permanent position, working approximately 50 hours per week on a straight day shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately read, analyze and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Prepare, assemble and weld pieces of metal and/or structures as per specifications
  • Use various industry specific jigs to assemble components
  • Operate various tools and equipment to assist in assembling structures 
  • Work with sheet metal and perform structural fillet welding
  • Oversee welding team and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Mentor junior welders, assign priorities and provide assistance as needed
  • Maintain quality control measures, ensure products meet requirements and specifications
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work closely with Shop Supervisor to maintain schedules and manage priorities

What you bring

  • Minimum 5 years’ welding experience with current CWB GMAW Flat ticket, or ability to achieve 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Skills in fitting and welding steel structures and sheet metal with strong understanding of welding techniques
  • Competent with using bandsaw, drill press, ironworker, and various welders
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Capable of working under pressure and pushing through challenging rush part scenarios
  • Ability to motivate and lead others by example
  • Strong communication, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
